Our Financial Communications practice is recognized as a leader in Investor Relations (“IR”) advisory, Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) advisory, activism defense, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy and restructuring, and crisis communications. We help clients navigate through critical moments of change, deliver a compelling and credible equity story to the market, and ultimately attract and retain investment from higher quality shareholders. Our strengths in each area are complimented by deep industry experience and expertise.
- Capital Markets & Investor Relations: We leverage our resources to create a tailored plan for investor engagement to expand and improve the client’s shareholder base. We also assist the management and IR team of our client with drafting and developing earnings materials for the investment community and conducting in-depth interviews and survey research to compile and evaluate how the investment community perceives the client’s strategy, value proposition, competitive positioning, capital allocation policies and other key topics in order to help inform future communications.
Environmental, Social, Governance & Activism Defense: We help our clients establish strong ESG profiles aligned with their unique company mission that improves their visibility and strengthens relationships and reputation among key stakeholders. Our team of corporate governance experts is also uniquely qualified to advise corporations around the globe on complex governance issues, helping them navigate all aspects of any contested situation.
Mergers & Acquisitions: We advise clients across every stage of the deal lifecycle to enhance the certainty of a successful close. We develop and drive positive deal sentiment across stakeholder groups while minimizing regulatory risk and threat of shareholder dissent and activism. From pre-announcement planning to transaction announcement and post-merger integration, our experts approach each transaction as a multi-faceted campaign. This include, drafting all communication materials, such as the release, investor presentation and call script, as well as creating a rollout plan, leak strategy and media engagement recommendations.
Bankruptcy & Restructuring: We support our clients as they undergo high-velocity, multi-stakeholder transformations such as bankruptcies, restructurings and performance improvement initiatives. Examples include, developing integrated communications approach and materials for the full lifecycle of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, leveraging change management strategies by conducting change readiness assessments and using that data to inform and engage stakeholders, and developing and implementing new vision, mission and/or values based on unique company attributes and employee input.
Crisis & Litigation Communications: We specialize in counseling clients through moments of crisis and significant change that have the potential to threaten their enterprise value, reputation or business continuity. We provide tailored rapid response execution support along with analysis and counsel through dynamic situations. We manage immediate crises and formulate rigorous contingency plans to ensure that clients are prepared to deal with other developments. This may include situation research and analysis, scenario planning, announcement messaging, execution strategies, and stakeholder research and materials.

What You Will Do
Financial Communications interns and consultants play an active role on our team, supporting a number of accounts and clients on a day to day basis. Tasks can range from monitoring client peers and industry trends, developing first drafts of key corporate and earnings announcements, conducting market research and pulling relevant background information for new client targets, research projects and activism preparedness.

You will collaborate with team members that have varying backgrounds across the buy- and sell-side, investment banking, research and investor relations, gain broad exposure to public companies across a number of market sectors, including industrials, consumer, technology and energy and develop strong efficiency and time management skills as you navigate multiple client deadlines and engage with different teams.
FTI Strategic Communications interns and consultants are an immediate member of the team, and are viewed as key players in our ability to service clients. Upon starting, you will participate in a training program, which includes an introduction to FTI’s business offerings, as well as more functional trainings on the databases and processes we utilize to service clients each day. Our training program is designed to introduce entry-level candidates to the inner workings of an international communications firm and to help develop essential written and oral communication skills required for this industry. We also utilize in-house and third-party learning platforms to offer ongoing training sessions to ensure that you continue to build on your analytical, writing and management skills as you continue to grow at FTI.

The Financial Communications team is based in New York City, D.C. and Chicago but we proudly deliver unmatched breadth and depth of expertise across our worldwide network. We often collaborate with engagement teams across North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East & Africa.
